Product Assessment
Emissions: This product is made in China, however the carbon footprint created is offset by shipping in bulk and stocking in Poland. The carbon footprint of the item is calculated at 1.904kg CO2e per unit. | Raw Materials: The canopy and matching pouch are made from 190T pongee polyester, with a zinc plated steel shaft, fibreglass ribs with chrome tips, and a rubberised handle. These are not recycled or sustainably sourced materials, although the printing process used is filtered to significantly reduce ink wastage. | Longevity: This is a windproof umbrella with a fibreglass frame and an automatic opening and closing mechanism, so with reasonable care it should last well beyond 3 years. A sturdier umbrella that is kept and reused also avoids the waste created by cheaper, throwaway alternatives. | End of Life: Due to the product being made up of mixed components, it cannot be recycled through UK kerbside collections. If the umbrella is taken apart, the steel shaft and frame can be recycled at a household waste recycling centre and the polyester canopy and pouch can be taken to a textile bank.
